What can it do for you?
Safe and completely bio-degradable injectable Hyaluronic acid fillers are used.
- To plump out fine lines or to create a more defined lip line fine fillers are used;
- medium fillers to plump out lips or deep lines and folds;
- and thick fillers to soften deep folds or to emphasise the cheek bones or brows.
Because the process of aging can include wrinkles, deep lines, areas of volume loss and sagging which are visible on the face, careful and strategic placement of dermal fillers creating a lifting of facial structures needs to take place with the individual in mind.
Facial fillers may be used in combination with Botulinum Toxin. This combination is very effective in different areas of the face to produce synergistic effects in achieving a more youthful look. This is also commonly referred to as the ‘Liquid Face Lift’.
How does it work?
In addition to replacing volume loss due to aging, fillers also help to support and enhance the structure of the skin. As hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the skin, it has other benefits as well, such as low allergenic properties and hydration of the skin.
The effect is immediate. Downtime varies considerably, depending on the area to be treated.
A consultation is important for the practitioner to ascertain your specific needs and to offer the most appropriate treatment.
The skin can be prepared with an anaesthetic ointment for 45-60 minutes before the procedure or, alternatively, an injectable Lignocaine block can be performed. Fine needles and cannulas can limit bruising and swelling.
Most frequently asked questions:
Are dermal fillers painful?”
How much discomfort you experience from dermal fillers will depend upon the area being treated. However, pain is manageable because dermal fillers are prepared with lidocaine (a numbing agent). A topical numbing agent can also be applied to the treatment areas
Are there restrictions after dermal filler treatment?
You may resume normal activities immediately after the procedure.
What is recovery like after filler injections?
Mild bruising and swelling is common for the first 3-5 days (lips tend to bruise and swell more so healing can take longer) but you may generally resume normal activities immediately.
How long will dermal filler results last?
Most patients can expect 6-12 months from a procedure depending upon the product used (e.g., Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, Radiesse).
